MicroGC / MSD Coupling

 Couplage MicroGC / Spectromètre de Masse intégré The µGC is a fast gas analyzer on its own. Gas chromatography module separates the compounds of a gas mixture within 3 minutes. It’s a modular device made by 1 to 4 analytical modules. Each module is a complete chromatograph with micro injector, analytical column and thermal conductivity detector. This detector is a micro thermal conductivity detector, non destructive, which leads to the coupling to a quadruple mass spectrometer which make possible the identification of each separated compounds. The analyzer runs qualitative and quantitative analysis for complex gas mixture. Most of the compounds are detected by the micro thermal conductivity detector in a concentration scale from 10 ppm V to 100% with a very good linearity of the answer. The coupling to the mass detector improves the sensitivity to 100 ppmb and even less.
Automated sequence measurement is possible, every 2-3 minutes. The µGC/Mass spectrometer coupling allows you to follow the different apparition of each product in laboratory or on site and the evolution of the concentration during a reaction, a rejection or a thermal degradation…The analyzer is equipped with 1 to 4 dedicated analytical modules working at the same time. The Mass Spectrometer can be coupled to many different polarities chromatographic columns.

The µGC / Mass Spectrometer is designed for on-site Analysis:

  • The detection of all compounds presents on site is possible thanks to the different analytical modules which work simultaneously.
  • Separated species identification is done by the Mass Spectrometer.

Every field where a gas analysis with identification is necessary, are concerned by this technology such as refineries, natural gas storage and distribution, process control, quality insurance, hygiene and security control, catalysis, research, environmental…

From the ppmV to the ppbV: Pre concentration

The measurement related to the pollution in open environment (traces detection) and, or, industrial require to lower the limit of the coupling detection of a 100 factor, or even 1000. One of the well known technology is based on the accumulation : a known volume of air is forwarded of an adsorbent material which VOC. Those compounds are then desorbed (thermally) to the analyzer.

The µTD insures this pre concentration function on an adsorbent support. Complete cycles from the accumulation phase to the result need from 10 to 15 minutes approximately. With its online pre concentration system, the µGC / Mass spectrometer allows to detect, according to the nature of the compounds, a concentration until tens ppbV for an analysis time which doesn’t exceed 15 minutes.

The sequence mode for completely automated analysis is preserved. The µTD has been developed to facilitate the analysis directly in the field. The analyzer equipped with an enrichment system can inform about the presence of each compound in order to establish a diagnosis. A very significant enquiry can be obtained in the field in less than one hour, with the enumeration of the current species., identification and first approach of the quantification.
